Short Group Description
Matanza is an association of professionals and amateurs dancers brought together by the passion of contemporary Latin dances. We’re putting forward our experiences and influences from various origins, to propose shows, demonstrations, courses and workshops in Holland and abroad.
Learning with us
Creation and representation are the essential objectives of a dance company. Nonetheless, sharing is that extra “thing” that keeps us going. As the Matanza group continues to grow, more and more we’re having the desire to share the two elements that motivates our success; technique and feeling. Hence, Matanza invites you to share its technique: Break On2, its specificity: Afro and scenic expressions, and its spirit: simplicity and performance. Our courses and workshops aim at leading you, little by little, towards the style which suits you best, yours. Hesitate no longer and come and seek your musical touch with us! Today, Matanza is characterized by the marriage of salsa Antillian, Dutch and American, rich technically, and Afro, generous in expression and feeling. We call it “Dutch Mambo”
Shows with Matanza
The success of a show depends on many factors. Matanza plays on emotion, expression, and aesthetics. Working with Matanza, it’s the insurance of obtaining high-level and quality shows carried out by perfectionist and impassioned dancers. The company’s implication to various Salsa congresses and Salsa Festivals (Belgium, Bulgaria, England, Rome, Suriname, Dominican Republic, Germany, Italy, Spain, Zurich, Marrakech, France and Holland) testifies to this desire to constantly enrich its source of influences, and to confront the best internationals in the discipline. Matanza’s choreography – Shaka – has thus far made the difference wherever it has been performed. Four to six dancers on stage, perfectly synchronised, along with dynamic movements, and sharing four intense minutes with a public not daring to look away, too afraid to miss something. African style and salsa put into one to give you an explosive mix. Other dynamic shows are: Muneca, Sandstorm, In Africa, Negra Tomasa, El Swing and Guaguanco con Rumba.
